We have a two-step process.
Before a transcript is considered complete, a professional transcriptionist transcribes the recording, and then an editor reviews the entire transcript while listening to / watching the recording.
We understand that people born and raised here in the US will be able to recognize colloquialisms that foreigners wouldn't be able to understand and when possible, we match transcriptionists with the subject matter with which they are familiar (i.e. finance, law, medicine) or even familiarity with local landmarks and lingo.
